Getting connected to the Better Driver app – a troubleshooting guide


Click the option below that relates most to the problem you’re having:

Unable to download

You and any named drivers need to install and use the Better Driver smartphone app within 24 hours of your policy starting. To download the app, please visit the App Store or Google Play Store.

If you are logging in for the first time your details are:

  • Username – The email address you used to set your policy up
  • Password – Your policy number, which can be found in your documents

For named drivers to login, you will need to invite them via the app. Their details will be:

  • Username – The email address you used to invite them. Please note this needs to be different to your username
  • Password – Your policy number, which can be found in your emailed documents

Please note your named driver can login immediately after the invite has been sent.

Unable to pair


Unable to pair to car’s Bluetooth

If you’re still having trouble getting connected, please try the below steps to reset the pairing process:

  1. Check that your phone is on the most up-to-date operating system (you can check this in your phone settings)
  2. Log out of the app if you can
  3. Go to phone settings > go to the apps section > find the app > clear storage and cache
  4. Uninstall and reinstall the Better Driver app
  5. Now try to log back in with your username and password.

Unable to pair to Wingman

If this hasn’t helped, please try the below steps to reset the pairing process:

  1. Check your Wingman is flashing green. If not, you can reset this by inserting a small pin or similar object and press and hold the button for a few seconds. Your wingman should flash green when the button is pressed
  2. Check that your phone is on the most up-to-date operating system (you can check this in your phone settings)
  3. Log out of the app if you can
  4. Go to phone settings > go to the apps section > find the app > clear storage and cache
  5. Uninstall and reinstall the Better Driver app
  6. Now try to log back in with your username and password.

Journeys not recording

Make sure all of the following settings are switched ON:

  • Bluetooth
  • Mobile Data
  • Privacy Location is set to always and precise (for iOS only)
  • Motion and Fitness (iOS only)
  • Change Battery Optimisation settings to be managed manually (Android only)

If you have now updated any of the above, please complete a journey to see if this has resolved the issue.
